LIFE IS ABOUT BALANCE
My purpose is to guide you to your personal balance, your state of equal amounts on both sides of the scale and equation. A state of total harmony.
The eternal question? How do we adapt and create a new lifestyle for ourselfs that will benefit both body, mind and soul but still not damage our current state of living, relationships and interest.
Sorry to brake it to you. But it is not possible.
Life is about balance, and for life to work out pleasantly and enjoyable we need to keep that balance. Imagine life as an equation. On each side of the equals mark there is a certain value that adds up to the same. On the left side is all our personal habits, relationships, work, sleep and interest etc. On the other side is the sum of all of them in a balance with the time and energy we have in one day. When we get rid of an old habit, we can find time for a new one. But squeezing in more in to that same side is gonna cause an imbalance and the equation will no longer add up. The value is to much. (Hang on, bare with me for a while). So if the equation is not in balance, it is unsolvable. Meaning we won´t find a way to make 3+5 to become 4, no matter how many times we try to bend and find different ways of solving the equation. Also meaning if we add more to our to-do lists, always keeping ourselves waaay to busy, we still wont find a state of bliss if we just try to get used to it, bending and twisting the numbers. We and our body will live in an constant imbalance, which will lead to long term stress, negativity, perhaps anxiety or depression.
My purpose is to guide you to your balance, your state of equal amounts both sides of the equation. So when starting a new life style, trying to focus on bringing health in to your life. Remember, you can´t just add more to your plate. There comes a time when you need to sit down with yourself and re-prioritize your life, values and what is important to you. If you want to start a new habit of meditating every morning, perhaps you need to slack of watching the morning news or not drink that cup of tea. If you want to exercise and move, you are gonna need to put down that phone for an hour and miss out on all the updates of what friends and family are doing, or not watch that episode of your favorite series. Many of us fool ourself thinking we are in a constant capability of being able to add to our life, but rarely acknowledge the importance of reducing or eliminating as well.
So how do we create this desired balance in life´s equation? We realize what is possible, we get honest and true with ourselves. We eliminate time with people that doesn’t serve us and our energy, or we just stop involving them in what is important/needs your energy. We create time and space for what we need, crave and desire so that if we reach out in a glimpse of motivation it is there for us, ready and waiting. Manage and take care of the space of time and attention that will bring your life to new, healthier habits. Start small. Achieve what you want and desire and clap yourself on the shoulder for reaching your goal. Every time you manage to do/change your desired outcome of a habit, task, interaction etc you need to celebrate. Over time you are giving your body and mind the hope to continue fighting when it is tougher. And as your get more confident in achieving your desires and dreams, the more you can up the stakes and take bigger leaps of faith in to the unknown and yourself.
Here are some small shifts in habits as inspiration to start your journey to a healthier life.
-
Start eating more greens & fruits. Buy the fruits and greens you can eat and always keep them at home. Search for new recipes that inspires you to use color in your food.
-
drink more water and set reminders during the day to do it.
-
Take 30 minutes in the morning without your phone and TV. Interact with your thoughts instead. Sit down and journal, day dream or enjoy the company of who´s around you (pets, partners, family, friends, plants etc).
-
Start meditating. Start small, take 5 minutes in the morning or evening.
-
Start reading a book. Read something that interest you, but not from screens.
-
Start a creative outlet. Drawing, painting, writing, singing, playing instruments. Everything that can get your mind to start create from it´s own magical perspective.
-
See the good in others. People you pass, people you know. Silently acknowledging beautiful traits in them and if you are brave, tell them.
-
Deep breaths. Set reminders to take a few deep breaths a couple of times a day.
-
Become more vocal of your love. Express your positivity and if you can’t feel any, fake it until you make it.
-
Start yoga. Re prioritize your habits and create time to be kind to your body and mind.
-
Take mindful walks. Really noticing the nature in all dimensions. Smells, sounds, scenery, temperature.
-
Start dry brushing your skin.
-
Stop eating out / take away.
-
Give thanks to your food and energy before eating. Prepare you digestive system for the food you are about to eat.
-
Work out. Get those endorphins running.
-
Gratitude work. Each morning state 3 things you are grateful for before you start your day.
-
Learn your boundaries. Learn to say no when your body or mind has had enough. You are the only one who has to live with the consequences.
-
Wake up early.
-
Move your body intuitively. Move it with music or without, but don´t ever guide it. Just let it flow as it needs to be expressed.
-
Less time on your phone/connecting to what is not around you. In today´s society this is one of our hardest challenges, and not to be overseen as anywhere close to easy. But still as important. Connect to your own life instead of others.
My favorite habits/changes that shift my mindset and life has been:
-
waking up early. Getting a head start of the day. Having that peaceful time of the day when there is no rush yet.
-
Meditating. Clearing my intentions, clutter and will.
-
Making sure at least 1-2 of my daily meals are healthy / eating loads of fruits, drinking smoothies and creating lots of meals filled with veg.
-
Going on long walk/hikes. Being out under the sun, moving is so healing.
-
Shifting my mindset to thinking ”there is ALWAYS two sides to the story”. And what I’m experiencing is my truth, and no one elses. Everybody is caring their own truth with them so being humble and acceptant to that is key.
-
Doing yoga. Cant live without healthy movements. You learn about your needs, your body and your limitations and how to accept the present.
-
Practicing mindfulness. Always checking in with myself during the day. What am I experiencing, what is this present moment. What is beautiful and precious right now?
-
Knowing I am the observer of my mind, and I’m not actually my thoughts. The thoughts are created by the energy that is me.
-
Reading books and feeding my mind with useful and interesting information that serves me and my life.
MINDFULNESS
Mindfulness is about learning to fully commit to the present moment. And to engaged with the present moment without any judgement or expectation. Being completely captivated of what is happening, totally aware.
Mindfulness research in the last decade has shown the great impacts of practicing continuously. Practicing mindfulness can promote better sleep, improve memory and reduce stress. Many of the top thinkers of our time all have some element of a mindfulness practice in their lives.
Its evidential that mindfulness is gonna need to take a bigger part of our lives as our society is now built upon a stressful way of living. Act before your cup of endurance to this hectic lifestyle tips over.
