ABOUT ME
Emelie Karlsson
Yoga Instructor & Sound Healer, 27
My story starts back in 2012 when I had my first interaction with meditation. I came from a stressful youth and meditation taught me not to get caught up in it. After years of inconsistent practice of meditation I finally committed completely at the age of 21. It´s easy to look at it as a failure but that playful time of exploration was exactly what was needed for me. This deeper connection I found at 21y/o within my meditation is what brought me to yoga and to reach for new ways of exploring this blissful state of awareness our body and mind connection is so capable of.
I soon explored that being bodily aware through yoga brought me much needed clarity for both my internal battles but also for my bodys. When we dive deep into our senses we understand our own dynamic, energetically, physical and mental. Today this is always my purpose as I step on the mat to learn & teach. As we practice being aware of our bodies movements, energy flow and thoughts we find it easier to stay present in all lifes precious moments, critical situations, and decision making. Stress and anxiety that todays society have taught us as the new norm, the "new normal" will soon be erased with dedication to the practice of awareness and we will find a comfort and ease in our body that it requires to carry us healthy throughout our life.
This awareness and dedication is reflected in my practice and what I teach. In my classes I tend to focus and light my inner fire in finding the awareness and connection within, and the vinyasa flows are very much focused on the connection to our breath (which is the anchor between our body and mind) throughout the practice.
In my latest year I found a new passion for sound, and after attending numberous different soundbaths and always leaving the session feeling so relaxed and with a protected aura & in tune with the body I decided to take the next step in my journey with sound and educate myself. In summer 2023 I attended a Level1&2 Sound healing Course in Rishikesh India to reach as close to the roots of this ancient knowledge as I possibly could.

About the different styles I teach and practice:
Vinyasa flow
This is a flow that engage movements with the rhythm of our breath. We move seamlessly with intention of inhalation and exhalation. These flows tend to get a bit sweaty and are a nice little challenging for both the mind and body as we´ll explore all different beginner friendly asanas(yoga poses). This flow offers strength, flexibility, concentration and breath work perfectly suited for a beginner.
Slow flow
This is a calming fluid class where we still put a lot of focus on moving with our breath. This flow provides fewer transitions and puts more focus in to finding the alignment and stillness in each asana as we hold asanas for longer and take several rounds of breath. This allows us to focus on precision and specific poses, still always letting the breath lead the practice while cultivating strength, flexibility, balance, and calm perfectly suited for beginners.
Yin yoga
This class is slow paced yoga where the focus is put on the time (3-8 min) spent in each asana. This class is very still where many asanas are practiced lying or sitting down on the mat, and many work with the help of gravity. With stillness and time in each pose we will reach the inner deep connective tissues between the muscles to increase blood flow in joints and increase flexibility. These are deeply grounded movements and we will leave relaxed. 100% beginner friendly class.
Sound baths
These sessions are a complete immersive expereience of all sorts of relaxing sounds. You lay still during the whole hour and relax and just focus on listening. It is very normal students fall asleep because of the deep relaxation, but not to worry. The sound healing works on both an awake and sleeping body.

My own practice and what it looks like
For my own practice, meditation followed by movement has been the best way to nurture my thoughts, and to process them with clarity so I can continue my day in best way possible. This is what my typical morning looks like just after waking up.
- Meditating 10-15 minutes first thing in the morning
Usually guided meditations (6 out of 10 times approx), but also my own practice with just bells. This also includes humming bee, energy work, chanting and moving meditation (4 out of 10 times approx)
- Yoga or morning walk
Everything from 10-90 minutes depending on what I can fit in to my schedule
- Eating my breakfast mindfully
nutritious foods filled with colors, then sitting down without any distraction really notcing flavors and being thankful for the energy it´s providing me.
- Journal or gratitude sheet - get my 21 day challenge
